It gives you a proper sequence, clear steps and repeatable techniques to help you design rooms that are worth bragging about. STEP 1
FIND YOUR STYLE
Home should be a reflection of you and your style (and not just a Copy-Paste of what you see on Instagram).
In this module, you'll hone in on your unique design preferences. You'll use a variety of fun exercises to define and set a style direction for your room.
STEP 2
ROOM FUNCTION
Whether you're starting with an empty space or working with what's already there, you need to figure out what needs to be changed, added, or left as is.
In this step, you’ll gain a clear understanding of how your room will function for you. You'll identify the specific furnishings and elements needed to make this room one that works, and not just looks good.
STEP 3
ROOM LAYOUT
The most critical and difficult part of room design? Finding the optimal room layout.
With measurements in hand, you'll explore different methods and tools for laying out a room. Dive into the tech tutorial for Floorplanner and learn how to make your own 2D and 3D floor plans.
After this step, you'll have worked out your particular room challenges and have a floor plan that flows easily.
STEP 4
ROOM DECOR
Now that furniture and layout requirements are in place, it's time to focus on the fun decor elements! I'll provide key design guidelines, tips, and room examples to give you the jumping off point for creating your own mood board and mockups in Canva.
You'll create a design scheme that you absolutely love, plus an action plan for any DIY projects needed to bring your room vision to life.
STEP 5
SHOPPING & BUDGET
In this module, you'll use your visuals to create a shopping list. Sticking to your personal budget and preferences, you'll assess where you want to splurge vs. save, source affordable products, and identify any professional trades you need to hire to complete your room.
STEP 6
INSTALL
This step will focus on sequencing and the most efficient and cost-effective order for decorating your room. Helpful styling tips and resources will be shared to get you to the finish line.
You’ll see your floorplan and decorating ideas brought to life. Just look at what you've created!
STEP 7
FINAL TOUCHES & MAINTENANCE
Finally, you'll monitor any outstanding items. You'll retain any warranties, materials, and contacts for use in future projects.
At the end of this process, you'll have a room you truly love, greater design know-how, and confidence in your decorating abilities.
